Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on I-5 Freeway
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2024) — A shirtless woman died in a pedestrian accident on the southbound Interstate 5 Freeway in Irvine.
It happened around 8:55 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman was reportedly wearing only camouflage shorts when she tried to run across southbound lanes. She also ran back to the right shoulder, just north of the Culver Boulevard off ramp, police said.
Police reported she was seen running northbound in southbound lanes as well as walking in middle lanes. One witness told authorities she was lying down in a traffic lane.
Eventually, a driver in a white Tesla struck the woman in the middle lanes of the freeway.
She unfortunately died on scene and investigators are working on the case.
