4 Teens Injured in Woodland Head-On Crash on County Road 98
WOODLAND (March 25, 2019) – Four teens were injured, one seriously, after a fatal traffic collision along County Road 98 on Saturday night, March 23.
The accident involving two vehicles occurred at about 8:20 p.m., north of County Road 27.
California Highway Patrol said a Chevrolet was going north on County Road 98 when for reasons still under investigation it crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Ford.
The driver of the Ford, a 17-year-old Esparto boy, was taken to Kaiser Vacaville to be treated for major injuries. His four passengers, whose ages range from 16 to 18, were not hospitalized.

Three of the four occupants of the Ford, all from Woodland, sustained minor injuries while the fourth was unharmed. Their names and condition were not disclosed.
CHP reported that the operator of the Chevrolet died at the scene. Yolo County coroner’s officials identified the deceased as 32-year-old Zachary Ortiz, of Woodland.
All involved parties were wearing their seat belts when the wreck happened. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
