Man in His 50s Killed in Crash on 5 Freeway Near County Road 102
SACRAMENTO (November 23, 2018) – One was killed and several others were injured after a traffic collision along the 5 Freeway near County Road 102 Friday afternoon, according to KCRA.
The accident occurred around noon time between Woodland and the Sacramento International Airport on the Yolo-Sacramento county line.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a white sedan collided for an unknown reason with the rear of a blue sedan on the southbound 5 Freeway.
Officials believed the blue colored vehicle was slowing with traffic when it was struck from behind by the other car operated by possible distracted driver.
7 Injured in Woodland Car Crash on 5 Freeway
Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the scene and a passenger, a man in his 50s, riding in the rear-ended sedan was killed as a result of the crash.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, a total of seven other people were hurt following the wreck.
The patients were taken to local hospitals to be treated for injuries ranging from minor to major degree. Their identities and condition at this time were also not disclosed.
The incident remains under investigation.
