At Least 1 Killed, 1 Injured in Woodland Crash on 5 Freeway Friday
WOODLAND (February 14, 2020) – A traffic collision along the 5 Freeway killed at least one person and injured another on Friday afternoon.
According to a California Highway Patrol dispatch, officers received a call about the fatal accident shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The report log said a Chevrolet full size van and a Volkswagen Jetta collided for an unknown reason on the southbound 5 Freeway near the County Road 102 off-ramp.
Witnesses claimed that a driver was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed and caused the crash. CHP believed that possibly three more vehicles were involved in the wreck.

An article published by FOX 40 News indicated that a crushed car was seen stopped on the side of the road with another vehicle sustained major front-end damage upon impact.
Yolo County Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the scene and attended to two people who suffered unspecified injuries following the crash.
Medical personnel took one patient to UC Davis Medical Center while the other wounded party to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center for treatment.
CHP later confirmed that one victim died as a result of the wreck. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, officers forced one lane of the freeway to shut down due to the incident. The cause of the tragic collision remains under investigation.
