WRIGHTWOOD, Calif. (June 4, 2018) – A 62-year-old woman riding on the back of a motorcycle died Sunday morning when the motorcyclist driving it struck a metal guardrail on Angeles Crest Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place about 11 a.m., just south of Big Pines Highway, California Highway Patrol Officer M. Chapman said.
At this time, police do not know why the 68-year-old man driving the 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle reportedly went off the roadway and crashed into a metal guardrail throwing off both people who were on the bike.
The two injured motorcycle riders taken to Pomona Valley Hospital where the woman died and the man who was suffering from major injuries was treated.
Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, Chapman
A SigAlert was issued shutting down Angeles Crest Highway at 12:20p.m. and the roadway was reopened at 2:01 p.m.

The investigation into what happened here yesterday continues as police piece together the evidence. We do not know at this time what caused the motorcycle rider to crash. Police will examine the roadway to see if a dangerous condition was present and also if there were mechanical failures that contributed or caused this crash.
