NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Sept. 17, 2024) – A wrong-way driver died in a head-on crash Sunday night on the Corona del Mar 73 Freeway, north of MacArthur Boulevard in Newport Beach.
The driver in a Land Rover SUV was traveling in the wrong direction when it crashed into an electric BMW sedan at 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorist was traveling at a high rate of speed in a northbound direction while in the southbound lanes of the 73 Freeway.
