Wrong-way Driver Triggers Crash on 405 Freeway in South Bay
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 8, 2021) – A wrong-way driver crash on the Interstate 405 Freeway early Monday left at least one person injured in the South Bay area.
The driver of a small vehicle from the northbound side veered over into southbound lanes of the freeway about 2:24 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver set off a collision involving three other vehicles and causing one vehicle to go off the freeway. That car went down an embankment and a person was trapped inside it.

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters responded and extricated the person from the vehicle. They also treated anyone who was hurt. The CHP report did not provide any further details.
Additionally, the report didn’t say if any of the vehicles got towed from the wrong-way driver crash scene.
Meanwhile, investigators are seeking to learn the cause of the crash and will determine liability.
Witnesses to the collision may call the Long Beach CHP area office.
