Woman Struck, Killed at Gettysburg Avenue and First Street
FRESNO, Calif. (November 11, 2022) – Yohanna Gomez, 34, of Hanford, died Sunday in a Fresno pedestrian accident Gettysburg Avenue near First Street
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the Handford woman, according to the Fresno Bee.
A driver reportedly struck the woman as she crossed Gettysburg Avenue about 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5th at the Fresno intersection.
Police believe she was walking outside of a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash. The driver in the vehicle did not see her and struck her down into the roadway. A witness traveling behind the motorist saw the same thing and confirmed the involved driver’s story. Yohanna Gomez suffered major head injuries, but was breathing when she arrived at the hospital. However, the next morning she died either during surgery or shortly afterward.
Investigators continue to work on the case.
