Woman, 48, Struck and Killed While Riding Bicycle

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 24, 2024) — Yolanda Marie Rodriguez, 48, of Merced, died Jan. 12th when a car struck her on West Childs Avenue while riding a bicycle in Merced County.

The deadly crash occurred at around 10 p.m. on Jan. 12th, according to the Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office.

The traffic accident occurred on West Childs Avenue between G Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way, according to a report by the Merced Sun Star.

A 42-year-old Merced woman was traveling westbound on West Childs Avenue when she collided with the woman riding a bicycles.

Paramedics responded and performed CPR on Yolanda Rodriguez, but despite their efforts she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver stopped and called for help and told authorities the bicyclist veered into her path before she was hit.
