4 Deputies Injured in Yorba Linda Crash Near Imperial and Casa Loma
YORBA LINDA, CA (July 19, 2022) – A DUI crash near Imperial Highway and Casa Loma Avenue left several deputies injured in Yorba Linda.
According to the CBS Los Angeles and ABC 7 News, the accident took place early Tuesday. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 12 a.m.
The incident began when the Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies were in Yorba Linda for an unrelated incident involving the arrest of a man suspected of a misdemeanor offense.
At the same time, a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Imperial Highway and Casa Loma Avenue. The car then struck the back of the patrol vehicles.
Speeding Driver Hits Patrol Cars
The California Highway Patrol said the impact forced one of the patrol units into four deputies. All four victims sustained minor to moderate injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics rushed them to the hospital for treatment as well as the person they initially detained. The reports did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the speeding male driver was under the influence when he hit the patrol cars. They soon arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
Officers forced the area of Imperial and Casa Loma to shut down following the wreck. The Yorba Linda crash is still under investigation.
