Man, 70, Hit and Killed by Vehicle on South Main Street Thursday
Yreka, CA (January 22, 2021) – A 70-year-old man died following a traffic accident on South Main Street Thursday evening, the Siskiyou Daily News reported.
Officials said a car struck the pedestrian on S. Main Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. The collision took place in the area near Valero gas station.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Yreka, January 21
When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found the man lying unresponsive on the roadway. Medical personnel reportedly failed to revive the victim, then sadly pronounced him dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Authorities briefly identified the driver as a 43-year-old woman from Siskiyou County. The female motorist appeared unharmed after the wreck.
The Yreka Police Department is the agency handling the investigation. Detectives continue to work at this time to determine the precise cause of the deadly pedestrian accident in Yreka.
