Yuba-Sutter: Deadly Pedestrian Accident on State Route 99

Vehicle Strikes, Kills Woman Near SR-70

Sutter County, CA (April 12, 2023) – A 59-year-old woman died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on State Route Highway 99, the Appeal-Democrat News reported.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 20-year-old man was behind the wheel of a 2007 Infiniti heading north on SR-99. In the area south of Highway 70, a woman reportedly stepped into the traffic lanes and walked into the path of the Infiniti.

Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Sutter County

Officials said the driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian, and hit her. The force from the impact resulted in life-threatening injuries to the woman. When medical personnel arrived, they attempted to resuscitate the victim but she sadly succumbed to her injuries and passed away. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

The driver involved in the unfortunate event appeared unharmed after the collision.

At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the deadly accident that happened on State Route 99 in Sutter County.
