Yuta Sasagawa Killed in Torrance Pedestrian Accident on Madrona Avenue

Pedestrian Killed in Torrance Collision Identified

TORRANCE, Calif. (August 27, 2026) – Yuta Sasagawa, 27, was struck and killed Monday night in Torrance at Madrona Avenue and Garnet Street.

The collision was reported on August 24th at about 8:40 p.m. Monday at the Torrance intersection, just south of Del Amo Boulevard, according to the Torrance Police Department.

Detectives working on the case determined that Yuta Sasagawa was crossing Madrona Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by an oncoming northbound vehicle in the roadway. Authorities say southbound traffic had yielded to let him cross the street.

Sadly, the young man suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving Torrance Fire Department crews. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office reported he died from blunt traumatic injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with investigators. No arrests were made.
