Woman Killed in Head-on Crash ID’d

WINCHESTER, Calif. (May 18, 2023) – Yvette Amezcua, 34, of Perris, died in a head-on crash on Washington Street, just east of Scott Road in Winchester.

The two-vehicle car accident happened Sunday afternoon on May 14 at around 5:10 p.m., according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Two vehicles collided head-on due to unknown circumstances at the Winchester intersection.

Cal Fire Riverside reported one vehicle overturned during the collision. Firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene to help those involved, but sadly, Yvette Amezcua died at the scene, The Patch reported.

Additionally, there were four people injured in the collision. Two of them sustained moderate injuries while the other two survived with minor injuries.

Medical crews transported the injured to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, police forced the area of Winchester Road and Scott Road to shut down for a time following the wreck. The cause of the fatal crash is still under investigation.
