Zachariah Pennington Accident Highway 99
CHICO (April 12, 2016)- According to KRCR News, Zachariah Pennington, 48, of Chico, has been identified as the victim fatally injured in a freak accident on Highway 99 Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place at around 1:00 p.m. when the driver of a pickup truck headed northbound on Highway 99 lost its trailer which had been latched onto the back of the truck. The trailer crossed all northbound lanes and struck two vehicles including a box truck and a Saturn.
The driver of the Saturn identified as Zachariah Pennington sadly suffered fatal injuries as he died on impact.
Per the KRCR News, the driver of the box truck was uninjured.
California Highway Patrol officials shut down one lane on southbound Highway 99 while they investigated the incident. Authorities will hold the pickup driver who has not been identified responsible for Pennington’s death.
