1 Killed, 2 Hurt in Fiery Head-on Crash at North Rose
OXNARD, Calif. (March 4, 2020) — Zachary Archuletadiaz, 21, of Port Hueneme, was arrested after a fatal crash on Rose Avenue near Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard.
The driver of a Ford Freestyle that collided Tuesday afternoon with a Lexus ES300 was arrested on suspicion of drugged driving, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place yesterday just before 3:25 p.m. on Rose Avenue, just south of Central Avenue.
Zachary Archuletadiaz was driving southbound in his Ford Freestyle when the vehicle crossed over the median and collided with a 67-year-old Ventura woman’s Lexus.
Archuletadiaz was reportedly driving the wrong way in the northbound lanes of Rose Avenue when he crashed head-on into the Lexus.
The impact of the crash killed the woman driving the Lexus and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, a passenger who was in the Lexus and Archuletadiaz were both critically injured. They were transported by ambulances to Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura.
Police arrested Archuletadiaz on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, the CHP said.
The collision is still under investigation. Witnesses may call 805-662-2640, CHP said.
