Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Interstate 5 Near Adobe Road
Red Bluff, CA (November 30, 2022) – Zachary Mitchell, a 34-year-old man, died following a traffic accident that occurred on the Interstate 5 Freeway.
The Action News Now reported Mitchell, of Medford, Oregon, was driving on the freeway in Red Bluff early Monday morning. When the Oregon man approached the area near Adobe Road, he apparently pulled his vehicle off to the right shoulder of northbound I-5. For reasons still unclear, Mitchell stepped down from his vehicle and stood on the east shoulder of the freeway. While outside his car, Mitchell was hit by a passing northbound Toyota Prius.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident in Red Bluff
The collision instantly killed the Oregon man. Shortly after 4:45 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the scene and pronounced Zachary Mitchell dead.
Meanwhile, no immediate information was available on the driver of the Prius.
Detectives handling the case continue to investigate the precise cause of the deadly accident that happened on Interstate 5 in Red Bluff.
