Zhang Xiaoming and Li Zhi Seriously Injured in Lassen County Crash on Highway 395
LASSEN COUNTY, CA (September 12, 2022) – A head-on crash seriously injured Zhang Xiaoming and Li Zhi on Highway 395 in Lassen County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the two 50-year-old Fremont residents as the victims of the fatal wreck which took place last week on Friday.
The incident happened when Zhang Xiaoming and Li Zhi were riding a 2018 Tesla south on Highway 395 in Lassen County. At the same time, a 2008 Nissan was going north.
For an unknown reason, the Nissan crossed into the southbound lane. CHP said in the process, the car slammed head-on into the Tesla just south of Old Milford Road.
Man Killed in Wreck
The Lassen County Times wrote that the accident occurred on September 9 at about 9:04 p.m. Zhang Xiaoming and Li Zhi sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
An air ambulance flew them to the Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada for treatment. CHP added that the man driving the Nissan died as a result of the collision.
Officers forced the southbound lanes of Highway 395 to shut down for a time following the wreck. CHP affirmed that they received a call about a reckless driver five minutes prior to the incident.
The cause of the Lassen County crash is still under investigation.
