2-Vehicle Crash at Lake Mathews Intersection

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2023) — A 29-year-old Hemet man died in a motorcycle accident Sunday night at Cajalco Road and Gavilan Road in Lake Mathews.

The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 9:28 p.m. on Nov. 12th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported a motorcycle and a Jeep collided near the 3-way intersection due to unknown circumstances. The intersection is controlled by traffic lights in all three directions and a permissive left-hand turn lane on Cajalco Road.

The bike caught on fire in the crash and the rider sustained fatal injuries. He was later identified as Cody Rossello, 29, of Hemet, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.

Meanwhile, the eastbound lane on Cajalco Road was blocked by vehicles and tow trucks removed them from the scene.

Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the fatal motorcycle accident at Cajalco Road and Gavilan Road.
