Man, 52, Killed in Head-on Crash on Highway 198
HANFORD, Calif. (June 26, 2023) – A 52-year-old Lemoore man from died and a Lemoore woman was injured in a head-on motorcycle accident on Highway 198 in Hanford.
The deadly, two-vehicle crash between the victim’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a pickup truck happened around 12:47 p.m. on Saturday, June 24th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers responded to the westbound lanes of Highway 198, just west of 7th Avenue in Kings County.
Motorcycle Accident Highway 198
The motorcyclist and his female passenger were traveling westbound on Highway 198, Your Central Valley reports. Police say an 18-year-old Orosi man driving his Toyota pickup truck was heading in the opposite direction.
The eastbound pickup truck reportedly veered into the path of the motorcyclist after it traveled across the dirt center median.
Investigators say the two motorists collided head-on and both the motorcycle operator and his 49-year-old female passenger were injured. Sadly the man operating the bike died and the scene.
Paramedics transported the female passenger to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
CHP says the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Authorities do not suspect drugs and/or alcoholic are a factor, but the final determination is yet to be made.
