La Quinta Teen Killed, Aaron Iribe Critically Injured in Antelope Valley ATV Crash
ANTELOPE VALLEY, Calif. (Dec. 14, 2020) – Aaron Iribe, 35, of Oakland, was critically injured Sunday in a single-vehicle crash that killed the teen driver in an unincorporated area of Antelope Valley.
The California Highway Patrol reported the crash took place about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13th near 233rd Street East, just north of Avenue U.
The 19-year-old La Quinta man driving the 2016 Polaris Razor, was riding northbound on a dirt field just east of 233rd Street East. The vehicle overturned when he turned the ATV sharply to the left, the CHP said.
The vehicle wound up on its right side in the dirt field. Sadly, the teenage driver suffered major injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP reported. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner will release his name after notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the Oakland man identified as Iribe suffered major injuries in the crash. He was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, the CHP said.
The CHP stated that drugs and/or alcohol were likely factors in the fatal crash.
