1 Killed; 1 Arrested Pomona Crash at San Antonio Avenue

Eli Machado Lopez Fatal Pomona Crash San Antonio Ave, Philadelphia Street POMONA, Calif. (February 4, 2021) – Eli Machado Lopez, 22, of Pomona, is facing a possible murder charge after he fled police and crashed into a vehicle at San Antonio Avenue and Philadelphia Street.

Rolando Pinto-Mendez, 26, of Pomona, died in the collision.

The Pomona Police Department reports the crash happened about 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd.

Apparently, police tried to pull over Lopez for a vehicle code violation at San Antonio Avenue and Ninth Street. Instead of stopping, Lopez allegedly fled with the patrol car in pursuit. That’s when he struck a vehicle occupied by Rolando Pinto-Mendez. Sadly, he suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Finally, police continue to investigate the traffic accident.
