SUV Crashes Head-on into Big Rig Truck in Corning
RED BLUFF, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2020) – A driver in an SUV was killed Monday in a head-on crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway in Corning.
The 5:53 a.m. crash took place on Nov. 2nd, just south of Liberal Avenue near Corning, police said.
The California Highway Patrol reported the crash today on the southbound side of the interstate 5 Freeway.
The SUV was in the northbound lane of the 5 Freeway when its driver allegedly crossed over into the southbound lane and hit an oncoming semi-truck. Upon impact, the SUV went up in flames and sparked a brush fire.

The driver in the SUV died at the crash scene and the truck driver suffered undisclosed injuries. Also, the name of the individual who died has not been released, pending notification of the person’s family.
Meanwhile, the CHP dispatch stated that Caltrans closed down the slow lane of southbound I-5 Freeway for several hours, just south of Corning.
CalFire and the Corning Fire Department responded to put out the fire.
