Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Crash on SR-68 in Salinas Area
SALINAS, Calif. (Jan. 28, 2021) — A Salinas pedestrian accident on State Route 68 today left one person dead.
The deadly crash happened about 1:38 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police confirmed a driver in a white Chevrolet Equinox struck the victim near State Route 68 and Hitchcock Road. The driver pulled over and called 911 for help, noting their was damage to his vehicle. Also, an ambulance responded to the scene and paramedics treated the person at the scene. Additionally, the CHP report did not mention if anyone was hospitalized or if they died at the scene.
It’s unknown what led up to the Salinas pedestrian accident, however, as there is very limited information available. Further information about the pedestrian will be released after their family is notified. Police did not say if the person was male or female. Meanwhile, witnesses are urged to contact investigators.
