Wrong-way Driver Killed on Hollywood Freeway is Identified
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (Oct. 8, 2020) – Jordan Del Carmen, 24, of Paramount, has been identified as the suspected wrong-way driver who died in a head-on crash Thursday on the Hollywood (101) Freeway.
Del Carmen was driving a 2008 BMW southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway when he crashed head-on into a 2014 Subaru driven by Clayton Chiapuzio, 33, of Newbury Park in Ventura County. The Paramount man was identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner.
Chiapuzio was critically injured in the crash reported about 1 a.m. to the California Highway Patrol near the Hollywood Boulevard.
Chiapuzio was transported to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.
The collision was blocking all northbound lanes of the freeway at Hollywood Boulevard.
