3 Killed in Shafter Car Accident Identified
SHAFTER, Calif. (October 7, 2020) – Juan Gabriel Luna Carranza, 27, of Bakersfield, and his front-seat passenger, Ramon Suastegui Arreola, 27, of Alpaugh, both died Monday in a collision at Orange Street and Poplar Avenue in Shafter.
Yolanda Gutierrez, 19, of Shafter, was also killed in the crash and two others were injured.
The Shafter teen was reportedly driving a Chevy Impala westbound on Orange Street when she reportedly ran through a stop sign and broadsided a Chevrolet Infiniti driven by Carranza and his two passengers including Arreola.
Both the driver of the Infiniti, Juan Carranza and Ramon Arreola died at the scene while a second passenger was injured and taken to a hospital.
The car accident was reported about 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5th, according to Bakersfield Now. The California Highway Patrol reported the driver of the Impala was allegedly speeding prior to entering the intersection.
Paramedics rushed Gutierrez and her passenger as well as the second passenger in the Infiniti to Kern Medical with minor to major injuries. Gutierrez later died at the hospital.
The fatal car crash remains under investigation.
