La Mesa Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Harbinson Ave
LA MESA, Calif. (Jan. 5, 2021) – Kelly Lynne Cameron, 54, of La Mesa, died on New Year’s Eve on Harbinson Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle while jogging in her neighborhood.
The woman was struck by a 2016 Subaru SRX about 3:35 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31st, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The La Mesa woman was jogging across Harbinson Avenue in the 4700 block when she was hit by the eastbound Subaru. The 27-year-old woman driving the vehicle stopped and someone called 911 for help.
Paramedics responded to help the injured woman, but unfortunately they confirmed her death at the scene.
There were no other injuries reported after the collision.
Police investigating the crash do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor. They will be looking into whether or not speed contributed to the cause of the crash or if there were any traffic violations involved.
Meanwhile, authorities closed Harbinson Avenue in both directions between Colony and Bonita roads to conduct their investigation.
