Motorcyclist Killed State Route 78 Crash
RAMONA, Calif. (January 12, 2021) – A motorcycle rider identified as Matthew Huthmacher, 51, died Sunday following a traffic collision on State Route 78.
The motorcyclist collided with 2003 Ford Focus sedan near Slaughterhouse Road, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The preliminary investigation revealed the crash took place about 5:02 p.m. on Jan. 10th.
First of all, another man riding on a 2020 Honda dual sport bike was heading west on SR-78. The motorcyclist reportedly struck a rock and was thrown off the bike into the roadway.
Meanwhile, Huthmacher was coming up behind the first bike and to avoid hitting it he crossed the double yellow lines. The sudden movement led the second motorcyclist to crash into an eastbound 2003 Ford Focus.
The other rider sustained major injuries in the wreck. The rider as airlifted to a hospital. Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries in the collision.
The circumstances that led to the deadly motorcycle crash in Ramona remained under investigation.
