Multi-Vehicle Pile-up on Artesia (91) Freeway
ARTESIA, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2022) — A multi-vehicle crash involving roughly 10 cars happened in the carpool lane on the Artesia 91 Freeway Thursday morning in Artesia.
The crash happened just before 6 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3rd on the westbound 91 Freeway, just west of Pioneer Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Someone called 911 to report a white work truck blocking the carpool lane, but then reported nine other vehicles were involved.
A black Tesla Model S, a white Dodge Charger, a blue Honda Civic and six other motorists were among the vehicles blocking traffic lanes after the collision.
Three people were reportedly trapped in the Dodge Charger and it was pinned between some of the other vehicles involved. People from some of the other vehicles were out walking in traffic lanes after the collision. The vehicles blocked the HOV lane and Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the freeway.
Also, the crash resulted in a backup for a couple of hours and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
Meanwhile, at least one ambulance responded to help those injured, but there are no specific details. Several tow trucks responded to remove damaged vehicles including the blue Honda Civic
The Artesia 91 Freeway crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
