Porterville Man, 21, Killed in Crash; Saul Saldana Armenta Arrested DUI
TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (April 26, 2024) – Lisandro Santos, 21, of Porterville, died in a crash on Highway 99 involving a suspected wrong-way driver, just north of Betty Drive in Tulare County.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 3:10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials were alerted by a 911 call about a wrong-way driver traveling on Highway 99 in Tulare County, according to a report by Your Central Valley News.
The Visalia CHP sent deputies to the area and they came upon a two-vehicle collision involving the alleged wrong-way driver.
Saul Saldana Armenta, 20, of Fresno, was reportedly driving a 2015 Dodge Charger southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 99. The vehicle crashed into a 2022 Honda Civic driven by Lisandro Santos as the car approached Betty Drive.
The 21-year-old Porterville man sustained fatal injuries in the collision. There is a GoFundMe for the family of Lisandro Santos who died just over a week before his 22nd birthday.
Finally, police arrested Saul Saldana Armenta on DUI and other charges.
