Jok Joseph Jok, 18, Killed in La Mesa Hit-and-Run on Bancroft Drive
LA MESA, CA (April 8, 2021) – Jok Joseph Jok was killed after a hit-and-run crash along Bancroft Drive in La Mesa two months ago.
Police identified the 18-year-old man, who went by Michael Jok, as the victim of the fatal collision which occurred on February 27.
The incident happened when a white Ford F150 pickup truck hit Jok Joseph Jok for an unknown reason. The driver struck him on Bancroft Drive, south of Golondrina Drive, in La Mesa.
Driver Hits Pedestrian, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found Jok Joseph Jok left lying unresponsive on the the side of Bancroft. He suffered critical injuries as a result of the collision.
The San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10 News reported the accident shortly after 9 p.m. Medical personnel rushed the pedestrian to a hospital, where he died on March 5.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the man and fled the area. Officers soon found the pickup and the suspect.
Authorities arrested and booked the driver into San Diego County Jail on one count of felony hit-and-run. The tragic La Mesa hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
