At Least 1 Hurt in Car Accident on Highway 99 Saturday
Ripon, CA (May 22, 2021) – The California Highway Patrol group reported a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred on State Route 99 Saturday evening.
Shortly after 10:20 p.m., CHP logged an accident involving two or more vehicles. For reasons still unclear, the motorists collided in the southbound side of Highway 99. The crash took place near the Jack Tone Road onramp in Ripon.
First responders found at the location a sedan emitting sparks from underneath the car. Firefighters at the scene immediately worked to stop the fire to build up.
After the flames were put out, medical personnel checked the conditions of all parties involved in the wreck. Authorities later confirmed at least one person suffered injuries as a result of the collision. The name of the victim, and the extent of their trauma remained undisclosed.

The CHP dispatch mentioned a motorist involved in the incident fled the scene before police arrived. No immediate information was available on the hit-and-run suspect.
Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to work to determine several factors surrounding the hit-and-run car crash in Ripon.
