Man, Woman Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 89 Tuesday
Truckee, CA (May 29, 2021) – On May 25, two people died following a car crash on Highway 89 in the area between Truckee and Lake Tahoe.
The Tahoe Daily Tribune reported a 2014 Ford Fusion was traveling north on Highway 89 Tuesday afternoon. When the sedan approached the area near Cabin Creek Road, the driver allowed the car to veer across the double yellow line. The Ford ended up crashing head-on into a freightliner truck.
Double Fatal Car, Truck Crash in Truckee [May 25]
According to the article published online, two occupants from the Ford both instantly died from the collision. Authorities briefly identified the deceased as a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the names of the fatal victims remained undisclosed.
Meanwhile, the truck operator, a 45-year-old man from Fernley, Nevada, reportedly sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident. Responding paramedics rendered aid to the man at the scene. It remained unclear whether the injured was later taken to the hospital.
Additional details on the unfortunate event have not been dicuseed thus far. Investigators handling the case continue to work to determine the precise cause of the fatal car and truck crash in Truckee.
