Pedestrian Killed in Redding Hit-and-Run on South Bonnyview Road
REDDING, CA (June 9, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on South Bonnyview Road in Redding.
Action News Now and ABC 7 News wrote that the accident took place on Wednesday morning. Officers reported the incident at about 4:53 a.m.
Redding police said a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason. The driver hit the victim on South Bonnyview Road near East Bonnyview Road.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the site and then found the person left lying on the ground as a result of the collision. They later pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid and soon fled the area.
Officials forced South Bonnyview to shut down at Bechelli Lane for hours following the hit-and-run crash. The fatal Redding collision is still under investigation.
