Passenger Killed in Car Accident on Buckman Springs Road Near Lake Morena Drive Wednesday
Campo, CA (June 9, 2021) – One person died following a suspected DUI car crash on Buckman Springs Road early Wednesday, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Our sources indicated a 2004 Toyota Scion XA had two occupants while traveling on the streets of Campo in East County. When the Toyota approached the area near Buckman Springs and Lake Morena Drive, the driver careened off the roadway. The car eventually slammed into a tree and mailbox.
Shortly after 3:30 a.m., emergency teams arrived at the location and found the passenger ejected from the car. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the 26-year-old passenger but she sadly succumbed to her injuries and died. Police continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, the article published online mentioned paramedics airlifted the driver to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of major injuries.
Investigators later determined the driver was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Once medically cleared, officers will reportedly arrest the suspect on suspicion of felony DUI and manslaughter.
