Humberto Gonzalez, 49, Kills Woman and Injures Several People in Monrovia DUI Crash
MONROVIA, CA (June 24, 2021) – Authorities detained Humberto Gonzalez after a fatal DUI crash on the 210 Freeway in Monrovia.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 49-year-old Pacoima man was under the influence when the accident occurred on Wednesday.
The incident began when Humberto Gonzalez was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado in the carpool lane of the 210 Freeway in Monrovia.
A 2008 Lexus ES350 traveling ahead of him then slowed down due to slower traffic near Huntington Drive. In the process, Humberto Gonzalez rear-ended the Lexus.
The Lexus then slammed into a 2013 Ford F-150 in front. CHP said the Lexus spun out of control and collided with several vehicles on the freeway.
Imogene Haley, 95, Victim in 210 Freeway Crash
The impact pushed the Ford pickup into the back of a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe ultimately struck the rear of a 2017 Mazda 3.
The passenger of the Lexus, 95-year-old Temple City resident Imogene Lea Haley, died at the scene. Medical personnel rushed the female driver of the Lexus to a hospital, where they pronounced her dead.
Patch and My News LA wrote that the collision took place on June 23 at around 3 p.m. Paramedics provided aid to multiple other patients for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the wreck.
Meanwhile, Humberto Gonzalez complained of pain to his legs following the Monrovia crash. CHP soon arrested him on suspicion of DUI with a bail set at $100,000.
