Man, 25, Hit and Killed by Vehicle Near Knighton Road Monday
Redding, CA (July 5, 2021) – A 25-year-old man suffered fatal injuries following a pedestrian accident that occurred on Riverland Drive early Monday, the Record Searchlight reported.
Our sources indicated the pedestrian was walking south on Riverland Drive near Knighton Road. Per article published online, the man stepped into the southbound lanes of Riverland Drive and went directly into the path of an oncoming 1999 Toyota Corolla.
The horrible crash happened at about 2:45 a.m.

When medical personnel arrived at the site, they immediately attended to the injured pedestrian. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim, but they sadly succumbed to their injuries and died at the scene. The name of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the Toyota driver, 18-year-old Oscar R. Castro Jr., claimed he did not have enough time to stop or steer away. Officials mentioned the motorist stayed in the area and cooperated with the investigation process.
Detectives continue to work at this time to determine liability in the deadly pedestrian accident Riverland Drive in Redding.
