Isaiah Ortega-Dage, 23, Killed in Desert Hot Springs Hit-and-Run on Palm Drive
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (September 11, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed Isaiah Ortega-Dage on Palm Drive in Desert Hot Springs.
The coroner’s office identified the 23-year-old Indio man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place early Saturday.
The incident began when Isaiah Ortega-Dage was riding as a passenger in a northbound vehicle on Palm Drive in Desert Hot Springs.
For an unknown reason, the female driver stopped partially in the right lane and right shoulder. Isaiah Ortega-Dage exited their car, walked around to the driver’s side and stood in the right lane.
Man Hit by DUI Driver
The California Highway Patrol said a Nissan pickup truck approached and then hit him. The motorist struck the pedestrian, north of Varner Road.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found Isaiah Ortega-Dage left lying on the ground as a result of the accident. He died a the scene.
The Desert Sun and KESQ News wrote that the collision occurred shortly after 12 a.m. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the man driving the Nissan did not stop to help the victim and fled the area.
Officers located him and determined that he was under the influence when the crash happened. They soon arrested the suspect for possible DUI.
The Desert Hot Springs hit-and-run collision that fatally injured Isaiah Ortega-Dage is still under investigation.
