Passenger Hospitalized After Collision at Highway 152 and Palm Avenue
Merced County, CA (October 5, 2021) – 57-year-old Joseph Molina suffered injuries following a traffic collision that occurred in the area of Highway 152 and Palm Avenue on October 1, Friday.
The Fresno Bee News published an article online indicated Joseph Molina, of Visalia, was a passenger in a 2021 Toyota Camry. Preliminary investigation revealed the sedan was traveling east on the highway in the No. 1 lane. Officials said the 38-year-old man driving the sedan braked and turned left when it approached a big rig crossing the freeway.
According to the article published online, the sedan driver attempted to avoid the 2018 Kenworth two-axle big rig. However, it ended up crashing into the the number two trailer loaded with tomatoes.
Authorities said the Toyota became lodged underneath the truck.
Joseph Molina, 57, Injured in Merced County Car Crash
Shortly after 8:40 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the accident scene. First responders found Joseph Molina, and the Toyota driver with injuries. Paramedics reportedly rushed the two patients to hospitals for treatment.
The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office later sadly pronounced a 64-year-old passenger in the Toyota dead.
Several factors surrounding the collision remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to investigate liability in the deadly car and truck accident in Merced County.
