1 Injured in Oakland Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 880 Near 16th Avenue
OAKLAND, CA (October 13, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash injured at least one person on the Interstate 880 near 16th Avenue in Oakland.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident took place on Tuesday morning. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 6:25 a.m.
The accident happened on October 12 when five vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Oakland. They crashed on the northbound Interstate 880, just south of 16th Avenue.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
CHP described one of the cars involved as a silver colored Toyota. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
Medical personnel found one person hurt as a result of the collision. They provided treatment to the victim for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the incident.
The report did not release the name of the wounded patient and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that one driver did not stop to render aid and then fled the area.
Officers forced the northbound lanes of the Interstate 880 to shut down near 16th Avenue for an hour following the wreck. The cause of the Oakland hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
