3 Injured in Collision at Western Avenue and Cook Street Friday
Santa Marita, CA (October 30, 2021) – On October 29, a car crash occurred in the area of South Western Avenue and West Cook Street.
According to an article published online by Lompoc Record, multiple vehicles collided in the 1000 block of West Cook Street. Preliminary investigation revealed 61-year-old Rick Hill, of Santa Maria, was driving east on West Cook Street in his green Prius. Officials said the Prius stopped at the intersection to look both ways before proceeding. While at a stop, Rick Hill saw a black SUV ran the stop and drove south at the high rate of speed.
The SUV reportedly clipped and completely removed the rear bumper of the Prius.
Due to the force from the impact, the SUV spun uncontrollably and came to a rest between a tree and a house near the intersection in Santa Maria.
Authorities added three other vehicles got involved in the mishap. The make and model of the cars found at the scene have not been revealed thus far.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., medical personnel arrived at the site. Our sources confirmed the female driver of the SUV; a male juvenile passenger; and a third person were transported to the hospital for treatment. The names of the patients and the extent of their injuries remained undisclosed.
The Santa Maria Police Traffic Bureau is the agency handle the investigation. Detectives continue to work to determine the precise cause of the car crash at Western Avenue and Cook Street.
