Bicycle Rider Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Crash at Oswell and College
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 7, 2021) – A bicycle rider was seriously injured after a crash at Oswell Street and College Avenue in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident took place on Sunday afternoon. According to their dispatch, officers reported the accident shortly before 1 p.m.
CHP said a vehicle struck a juvenile riding a bicycle for an unknown reason in Bakersfield. The driver hit the bicyclist at the intersection of Oswell Street and College Avenue.
Child Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the cyclist hurt. The child sustained moderate to major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the victim to a hospital for treatment. The report did not disclose the condition of the wounded patient at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the rider. They described the car as a light green Nissan sedan.
Officers forced the area of Oswell and College to close following the collision. The cause of the Bakersfield bicycle crash is still under investigation.
