1 Killed in Gridley Crash on Northbound Highway 99 at Wright Avenue
GRIDLEY, CA (November 8, 2021) – At least one was killed after a big rig crash at Highway 99 and Wright Avenue in Gridley.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident took place late Monday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:50 p.m.
CHP said the semi-truck and a sedan collided for an unknown reason in Gridley. The two crashed on northbound Highway 99 at the intersection with Wright Avenue.
Car and Big Rig Collide
One of the vehicles involved obtained major damage due to the impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the area of Fagan.
Medical personnel confirmed that one person died as a result of the collision. The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the northbound lanes of Highway 99 to shut down at Wright following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Gridley crash is still under investigation.
