Genaro Gonzalez, 58, Killed in Woodland Crash on County Road 97
WOODLAND, CA (November 12, 2021) – Genaro Gonzalez was killed after a crash on County Road 97 in Woodland.
The Yolo County Coroner’s Office identified the 58-year-old Woodland man as the victim in the fatal wreck which occurred on Thursday.
The incident began when Genaro Gonzalez was driving the lawn mower north on County Road 97, just west of Woodland. At the same time, a 2003 Nissan was traveling in the same direction.
For an unknown, the car failed to stop or slow down. The California Highway Patrol said the Nissan then slammed into the back of the lawn mower.
Car Hits Lawn Mower
Genaro Gonzalez ended up ejected from the lawn mower as a result of the crash. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Sacramento Bee and The Daily Democrat wrote that the accident took place on November 11 at around 3:10 p.m. The wreck happened just south of Highway 16.
CHP added that the 34-year-old Woodland woman driving the Nissan sustained minor injuries following the wreck. Medical personnel treated her at the site.
Meanwhile, officers forced County Road 97 to shut down from Highway 16 to County Road 24 for about four hours after the collision. The cause of the Woodland crash is still under investigation.
