Deputy Eric Fulmer, 34, Seriously Injured in Newman Fatal Car Crash
NEWMAN, CA (January 10, 2022) – Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputy Eric Fulmer was seriously injured after a fatal crash in Newman.
The Modesto Bee and KCRA News identified the 34-year-old detective as one of the victims in the wreck which took place on Sunday.
The incident began when Deputy Eric Fulmer responded to a Newman police officer who asked for assistance in the area of River and Villa Manucha roads.

Deputy Eric Fulmer was driving an unmarked Nissan south on River Road with lights and sirens on. In the process, he T-boned a Chevrolet coupe which pulled into the intersection from Villa Manucha.
The accident occurred on January 9 shortly after 7 a.m. Deputy Eric Fulmer sustained major injuries, including a broken leg, as a result of the crash.
Paramedics then rushed him to a hospital where he underwent surgery. The driver of the Chevrolet died while his passenger ended up hospital with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, reports affirmed that the police officer was in a fight with two suspects when he called for help. They soon arrested the two men for felony resisting arrest.
The Newman crash is still under investigation.
