Man Killed in Van Nuys Hit-and-Run on Sepulveda Boulevard Near Victory
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 27, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Sepulveda Boulevard in Van Nuys.
According to The Daily News and NBC Los Angeles, the tragic accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the collision at about 4:10 a.m.
The incident happened when a male pedestrian was crossing Sepulveda Boulevard, north of Victory Boulevard, in the Van Nuys neighborhood. At the same time, a vehicle was going south.
Los Angeles police said for an unknown reason, the driver then struck the man in his 50s. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found him left lying on the ground.
Driver Hits Pedestrian, Flees Scene
The victim ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon pronounced him dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
They are looking for the owner of a Jeep Wrangler stopped at the intersection while facing north at the time. Officers forced the corner of Sepulveda and Victory to shut down following the collision.
