2 Hurt After Collision at Highway 88 and Highway 49 Tuesday
Amador, CA (March 8, 2022) – David Hand, and another person suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 88 and Highway 49.
The Ledger Dispatch News reported Hand, an 81-year-old Ione resident, was driving a 2012 Lexus heading west on SR-88. Preliminary investigation revealed Hand ran against a red light at the SR-49 crossing. As the man drove through the intersection, he crashed into the left side of the 2017 school bus was heading southbound on SR-49.
Due to the force from the impact, the bus spun and hit the left front of the 2006 Toyota driven 71-year-old Warren Lucas.
Officials said the accident took place at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When medical personnel arrived at the location, they immediately rendered aid to all possible victims in the wreck. After the evaluation, authorities confirmed Hand and the driver of the school bus both sustained injuries in the collision. The conditions of the victims at this time have not been revealed thus far.
Further investigation is underway on the traffic accident at Highway 88 and 49 in Amador.
