Nicholas Burchett, 47, ID’d as DUI Driver in Napa County Crash on Old Sonoma
NAPA COUNTY, CA (May 23, 2022) – Authorities identified Nicholas Burchett as the suspect in Napa County DUI crash on Old Sonoma Road.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 47-year-old Napa man was under the influence when the collision occurred on Sunday.
The incident began when Nicholas Burchett was driving a 2016 Subaru Impreza north on Old Sonoma Road, south of Congress Valley Road, in Napa County.
CHP said he then crossed the center line and sideswiped a 2016 Kia. His car continued and soon struck a 2014 Toyota Camry head-on.
2 Seriously Injured in Wreck
The Napa Valley Register wrote that the accident took place on May 22 in the Carneros area at about 3:20 p.m. Nicholas Burchett sustained major injuries as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Toyota, 47-year-old Napa resident Guadalupe Lopez Alvarado, suffered major injuries. Their 16-year-old passenger survived the wreck with moderate injuries.
Paramedics rushed all three patients to the Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment. The motorist in the Kia, a 22-year-old Sonoma man, did not sustain any wound.
Meanwhile, officers added that Nicholas Burchett is facing a charge of DUI causing injury. The Napa County DUI crash is still under investigation.
