1 Killed, 1 Injured in Kern County Crash on Highway 58 Near General Beale
KERN COUNTY, CA (June 17, 2022) – A crash killed one person and injured another on Highway 58 near General Beale Road in Kern County.
According to the Kern Golden Empire and Bakersfield Now, the tragic accident took place on Friday night. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 8:15 p.m.
The incident happened when two vehicles collided head-on for an unknown reason east of Bakersfield. They crashed on eastbound Highway 58 just west of General Beale Road.
2 Vehicles Collide
A California Highway Patrol dispatch said one car, an SUV, rolled over due to the impact of the collision. A least two people ended up trapped in the wreckage as a result of the incident.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then freed them from their vehicles. One individual soon died at the scene.
Medical personnel rushed the other patient to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound lanes of Highway 58 to shut down near General Beale for several hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Bakersfield crash is still under investigation.
