2 Critically Injured in Crash Near Union Valley Parkway and Orcutt Road
ORCUTT, CA (July 3, 2022) – A DUI crash left two people critically injured near Union Valley Parkway and Orcutt Road in Orcutt.
According to The Tribune and Noozhawk News, the accident took place late Saturday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:20 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident happened on July 2 when two vehicles collided. They crashed near the intersection of Union Valley Parkway and Orcutt Road.
CHP described the cars as a 2007 Honda and a 1997 Nissan. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and freed two trapped occupants of the Nissan from the wreckage.
Drunk Driver Hits Another Car
The Santa Maria man and woman, both 75, sustained critical injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed them to the Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria for treatment.
The report did not disclose the names of the wounded victims and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the Honda was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the other car.
They soon arrested and booked the 62-year-old Lompoc man into the Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury.
Officers forced the area of Union Valley and Orcutt to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
